Detectives Shoot Man Who Threatened Them With Knife In Copiague, Police Say

A man was hospitalized with serious injuries after he threatened detectives with a knife and they shot him, police reported.

The incident happened in Copiague at about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, and it involved Nassau County Police detectives, according to the Suffolk County Police Department. 

Suffolk Police said the detectives were interviewing a 39-year-old man outside of his home on Buchanan Avenue about an incident that happened in Nassau County at an earlier date when the man charged at the detectives and threatened them with the knife.

The detectives shot the man, whose identity was not released, and he was hospitalized for treatment of serious, non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
